NEW MOM

Becoming a new mom has been so rewarding for me personally. I definitely fit into that category of "built to be a mom" I have friends who have told me "you're going to be a great mom" but I never really believed them.

It just feels so good to be the one that is so good at feeding her or putting her down for a nap or her long sleep. The way she gets ridiculously happy when she sees me is the most rewarding thing ive ever received.

at 3 months now she is starting to settle in perfectly. I kinda wish the mom blogs were more specific on that. I feel like the 3 month mark is when newborns are finally "okay" with their surroundings. Granted, there are definitely babies who [They're referred to as "potato babies" or "unicorn babies"] are perfect from the absolute beginning.

No Ripley wanted me to get to know her before she let me in. Shes already so much like her mom.

Ripley had silent reflux when she was born. I am not sure exacerbated it. Breast feeding was so difficult because of that. So many sleepless, crying her dick off, nights that I remember thinking at the time "this is it... this is my punishment for being a bitch all those times" like this stage was never going to end, or she was never going to be content. I practically broke my back bouncing on my pregnancy ball for HOURS every single day just to make her comfortable. I talked with her pediatrician about it and he looked at me perturbed "Why didn't you say something earlier?"

you know why?

Because the solid advice from moms at every age "babies cry" I just thought babies cry. I thought thats all they did in the beginning. Because every mom talks about her crying baby, the sleepless nights, hell.. the sleepless days too.

"no thats not normal." her pediatrician said as Ripley was exercising vocal calls to perfect her banshee scream.

about 48 hours on some zantac she finally could settle.

I dont know if the Zantac is what did it or the fact she was growing and we were both learning eachother is what did it. Now Ripley is this extremely happy smiling baby. We got to have our first outing the other day when my Sister was in town. Ripley did great. We even went to wynwood after and got some tacos at this great outdoor taco truck.

Now that I can manage our time more easily I can focus on writing more and taking more pictures. My photography has been on hiatus because well... baby. I plan on spending the rest of my days [before i go back to work] focusing on getting myself back in shape and photo journaling the year.
