Honey Moon Part One.

Scotts never been to Washington DC and to be fair, I haven't gone since I was in 5th grade. I went on a school trip with my class. This is also my last weekend before peak season starts for my job so we wanted to do something fun.

Washington DC made sense. My sister went with her husband and they both recommended things we could do. I already knew the public transportation was going to be easy, I had already been to most of the museums and monuments. After work on Saturday we caught our flight after catching something to eat at this awesome Cuban place for some Arroz con Pollo.
The flight was great. I still get super nervous when I fly. We got in just before midnight and a shuttle took us to our hotel. Oh yeah did I mention it was cold? Ok so we got in and it was about 45 degrees out which was personally doable for me, but when you have 40 mph winds attached to it? yeah my clothes didn't stand a chance.

We woke up and had a bagel across the street at an illy coffee shop. It was super nippy out. WEIRDLY ENOUGH my other friend Emily just so happen to be in DC and her and I were texting about how cold it was. We decided to walk to the subway, it was close to our hotel and I honestly don't remember riding it as a kid. It was so fast and totally worth it. It made me think about how crappy the public transportation is in Miami. The walk was so short and yes it was cold out but once we got inside the building it was fine. Our first stop was at the National Air and Space museum.

Scott has always been fascinated about space and flying. This museum was really cool and there is SO much to look at I felt like I probably didn't look at everything here just because we had plans to try and get to some of the other monuments and museums. We plan on making a few day trips just to get the full experience of these monuments and museums.

I was in elementary school the last time I came to the Smithsonian. This place was so packed it reminded me of Disney. There were kids naturally everywhere, it was super crowded. I felt bad because it was so packed we really didn't getting to spend as much time as I had liked there. There was so many interesting things to look at and read it made it also hard for me to focus on one thing lol. I do have a soft spot for animals... and sea creatures are fascinating to me. Whales to me are like the last living resemblance to dinosaurs because they are so huge in size...

We ate at a really nice BBQ place and once the sun started to fall it very quickly became colder and almost unbearable.  The following morning we stopped by the pentagon to pay our respects to the lives that were lost here. It really was a moving and beautiful garden that they dedicated to that day and the lives lost.

I hope everyones thanksgiving was great. I was able to skype with my brother who just moved to Maryland for a few years. It was nice to still have him around for thanksgiving. Scott and I usually make it out to Texas for a Duckworth Thanksgiving but sadly we had to miss it this year, work just wouldn't allow it.

We smoked our turkey this year.... and we will never not smoke it again. It was the best turkey I've ever had. How was your thanksgiving?
