I guess everyone dreams about traveling. I think we all think of it as some thing that will happen eventually some day, when we make it big, in doing what ever it is... Except I find the traveling thing to be a lot closer than I expected. Ever since I've met Scott we have been going all over the place. Staying in the craziest places. Last weekend we went to Vail Colorado on Easter Sunday. He some how found this great deal on this insane resort bundled with a car.
So we left our giant dog horse at my parents house and left our house at 5am to Miami International Airport. I never was much of a coffee drinker until this year. I now crave it in the morning, it just soothes my soul. I need that Cortidito or Cappuccino which wasn't hard to find at MIA. Our flight was barely full and it ended up being a smooth flight. Scott and I were able to get whole rows and window seats to ourselves. [WHAAAT??!!]
Scott said this trip we are "Ballin on a budget" which was our theme the whole weekend. I mean look at those private jets...
Our rental was a Prius but we weren't even upset? I mean should we be? It was a little slow but we spent 15 dollars in gas for a full tank, what is that about? Also it was so beautiful we felt better about having something that was probably better for the environment anyway?
We headed to a place called Glennwood springs to stop in for some Brunch at The Pullman. They had fresh lemonade on tap guys...
We walked around for a minute, looking at all the different parts of this small city. It was pretty quiet but I wonder now if that's because it was Easter?
Scott's been to Colorado before, This was my first time. I have seen snow twice before in my life. I don't think I was expecting something like this to be honest. Every mountain was so big, bigger than any building Ive ever seen and there were tunnels that went straight through the bottom. We stopped at a place called Hanging Lake to do a small trail. We were warned that half way through the rocks were very icy and unless you have rock climbing shoes, you probably wouldn't make it, so we didn't go too far. Later I heard someone slipped and fell and broke their leg, I was glad we didn't push it
Before we checked into the hotel we stopped and a grocery store closest to our resort because there would be nothing but room service or a very expensive restaurant to eat at while we were at the resort as it was pretty far from any real food stops. I figured our hotel probably had a fridge, and if it didn't, it was 30 degrees out anyways. When we started to wind in between the snowy mountains and the rest stops and small towns became less frequent we pulled up to our resort. It was sitting on the side of a mountain. Our room view was amazing and the room was equipped with its own fire place that you could turn on by a nob on the wall, I cant even make this stuff up.
Day 2 we went on a couple of hikes, we explored Vail a little bit more. We got to really enjoy the hotel grounds. They had free coffee that was actually really good.
There was this little slope town city area we went to and I was really wanting a cup of coffee so we pulled into this chocolate factory store that had a neon sign that said "expresso". It had every kind of chocolate you could imagine, but the coffee wasn't great and super over priced but the chocolate was pretty decent.
I couldn't believe how amazing the weather was. It was seriously the nicest weather I've ever felt. It was about 40 degrees out and the warmth of the sun just made for a real beautiful day. Scott and I just sat near the pick up site and watched all the skiers come down the slopes
We also ate at "The Rose" which came highly recommended on yelp. It was a small restaurant, we sat at the bar and I ordered the Ahi Tacos and Scott ordered the crispy pork tacos and even though it was a little over priced for the size of the tacos they were off the chain. Ugh I wanted to eat like 20 tacos. Yelp and trip advisor have been real amazing in trying to find the best bang for our buck. We are still making our reviews on places we stopped in on.
This has been my most favorite trip so far, but I feel like I say that all the time about every trip we take. Well.. till next time.
